Q & A

I've had some questions lately and as usual this is always the easiest way to respond. So let's dive in and see what we have got. Some of you ask some tough questions!

If you sell your house won't you miss your mom more? Isn't that where she lived?

I don't think that anything could make me miss my more than I already do. This is where she lived right before she died. But my mom is not here. I'm slowly beginning to understand that my mom is wherever I am. She is in my heart and thankfully my heart travels well. So while there are memories of her here this isn't her home now. So we pack up and move forward.

Where are you going to move?

Wonderful question and one I ask myself fairly often. I don't know yet where we will move. When I get an offer on the house I'll figure that out. Who know I may just pack everything in a U-Haul and flip a coin and go. I'm feeling rather brave as of late.

Is Hulk still having temper tantrums?

You bet he is. In fact this evening he threw a big old fit because I would not let him get in the bathtub with his clothes on. I'm a mean mom like that. I am beginning to accept that this temper tantrum business is just part of life right now. I pick my battles and I have learned how to tune out the screaming and crying from time to time. Eventually he stops and we go back on about our day. I'm trying to just not make a big deal out of it anymore. Does that make sense?

How is your photography business going?

It is going well. In fact the first month of this year was busier than any other time in the past. I also have a few weddings coming up and several boudoir sessions scheduled. I love it! I just wish I could do it all the time. I've also been working on a special photography project that I'll be sharing with you all soon.

How did you come up with your blog nicknames?

Well have you seen my child??? He is an incredible hulk and an incredible hunk! He is one big boy. So if I was forced to give him a blog name then The Hulk just seemed like the best fit. And mine is simple. I'm always clickin away with my camera so Clickin Mama J seemed to fit. Though I would love to just always use our real names. I'm kinda fond of them.

Okay I must go to bed. I'm exhausted. Hope this answers some of your questions. As always feel free to message me anytime.

Questions and Answers

I've been telling you all forever that I was working on a Q and A post from your emails and comments. And I have been working on it however I didn't tell you I was working very slowly. It's been in draft for weeks but I think I have crammed enough questions into one post so here you go. Of course if you have other questions for me leave them in the comments or email me and I'll answer them slowly but I will.

Did you try adoptive nursing with The Hulk or only do bottle feeding?

The Hulk was completely bottle fed and that worked for us. I really wanted to try adoptive nursing and maybe in the future I will. But The Hulk' adoption came as such a surprise that I didn't' really have enough notice to start on the necessary medication. Maybe I'll have this opportunity with adoption number 2.

You don't talk about your parents much, are they involved in your life?

My mom died September 2, 2006. Prior to that she was very involved in my life. I have a whole section of my blog labeled mom that talks about her or my issues surrounding her death. You can also visit my old blog
Hunna's Happenings for more about my mama.

My dad and step mom don't live close by so we don't get to see them often. We do talk on the phone regularly and visit when we can. I wish they lived closer (hint hint) but right now that just isn't an option.

Who helps you with The Hulk since he doesn't have a dad?

I'm lucky to have the people in my life that I do. My best friend Darby and her wonderful husband Chris are my biggest supporters locally. They are the ones that help with The Hulk the most. They keep him when I have to travel and help me out a lot when I'm in a bind with daycare or just life. They are his God Parents and I wouldn't have it any other way! If I can't be with The Hulk I prefer that he is with them or my sister.

My sister Heather is also a big help with The Hulk. Though she lives out of town she comes home a couple times a month to visit and hang out. She is a great help and a huge support! The Hulk adores Aunt Heather and she is so much fun to have around.

What do you feed The Hulk for snacks?

I honestly treat The Hulk' snack time like I do mealtimes. I try to avoid giving him packaged "snack type foods". We do lots of fruit, veggies, and beans. He loves my snack mix that I make using dried fruit and fiber one cereal. When we are out and about and it's time for a snack I try to have dried fruit with us. He does love cheese crackers and goldfish so he gets those from time to time. He also loves graham crackers so sometimes I let him have those with a little bit of apple butter on them. Delicious!

Did you get your financial situation straightened out?

Ugh yes and no. I'm out of serious danger right now but I'm not comfortable at all with our financial situation. I don't like debt, I don't like not having enough in savings, I don't like not knowing where the money is coming from and when. So I'm not comfortable right now. But I have a plan. I have a huge garage sale coming up. I also have some big items to sell on Craigslist or Ebay and I have a couple big photo sessions coming up. I'm also trying to get some different plan arranged in regards to my student loans. Right now one whole paycheck a month is going towards student loans that that just isn't working... So hopefully that will help me to feel a little more comfortable. However, winning the lottery sounds great too!

So that's what I've got answered so far. I of course have more to answer but I will conquer those another day.

Your Questions My Answers

Here we go with another fun round of questions and answers. I'm so glad you all feel like you can ask me things. I am a pretty open book so don't hesitate to ask me things. If for some reason I don't feel like I can answer it publicly on the blog I will most likely just email you back. Okay here it goes.

Do you really think you can handle having two children alone?

This has two answers. Do I think I can handle two children alone? Absolutely. Do I think it will be easy? Absolutely not! That's why I am waiting awhile longer before I add to our family. When the time is right everything will fall into place.

Do you sell those tutu's you made for the kids you take pictures of?

I have not sold any tutu's but I would be willing to look into this. Please if you are interested in a tutu let me know and we can talk about sizing, pricing, etc. I think they are really fun to make so I'm very open to this.

Now that The Hulk is bigger and doesn't eat baby food what do you feed him?

The Hulk still eats very healthy food. He eats LOTS of veggies. He loves veggies, there isn't one he won't eat. He eats fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, lots of whole grains and beans, some chicken, fish and red meat. I will probably be doing a post on toddler food soon.

You have mentioned before that you are diabetic. Do you take insulin?

I am a type two diabetic. I currently do not take insulin. But that may be changing soon. My blood sugar is very out of control right now. I've been sick for going on four weeks with this sore throat, lost voice, respiratory stuff. My doctor feels like it is directly related to my high blood sugar. So changes are happening. I meet with him next week to change up my meds and look at a different plan to get my sugars back under control. I actually plan to post about that meeting after it happens to hold myself accountable. My A1C level is dangerously high right now and must come down immediately. I'm at a 11.7 when I should be between 6-7. Kidney failure can begin at 10 so obviously I'm in a dangerous position and it's a bit frightening for me.

Is your sister really going to move? It seems like you two and The Hulk are together a lot for her to actually move that far away.

Yes my sister Heather is actually going to move. Her last day of work will be May 14 and then she will be coming to my house to spend the weekend and then she and Doug are filling the uhaul and heading to San Francisco. So she is actually leaving sooner than I anticipated. Heather, The Hulk, and I are very close and spend lots of time together. While this move will be a change for all of us I am confident that we can maintain regular contact. We live in an age of cell phones, web cams and airplanes. We will be seeing each other in person about every other month and we are planning to use the web cams to talk and so The Hulk can see Aunt Heather. One thing I know for sure is that no matter where Heather and I go we will always be close. This is a change and a challenge but it's also a great opportunity for her and we of course support her.

So that's all the questions and answers for today. Feel free to ask away. I will be doing another post like this next month too.

Questions and Answers

On my old blog I did the question and answer posts every once in awhile. I haven't done one since I started this blog. But I've had a few emails and comments pile up that I haven't gotten answered and thought I better get to it. So here goes....

Do you ever talk to The Hulk' birth mom?

Yes I do talk to Miss Katie! We have an open relationship. Katie and I used to talk more frequently but now we probably talk about once a month. The Hulk, Katie and I try to get together every couple of months or so. I also send her pictures and notes on a regular basis. And for some reason we do a lot of our communicating through My space messages back and forth.

How can you afford to stay home and not work as a single mom?

Well this is an easy answer! I can't afford to stay home and not work as a single mom. Thank God I found a job! I was really reaching the scary place financially. It's a real blessing to be back to work. I can't wait for that first paycheck to come. Luckily I also had some money coming in from my photography business. And I have a very generous dad and step mom that hooked me up with a little dough to get by. I promise if your reading this I will pay you back. :-)

What photo editing program do you use?

I use a couple of editing programs. For most pictures I use Picassa. This is a FREE yes I said FREE editing program that is wonderful! Honestly I use it the majority of the time. However, I also use Adobe Photoshop Elements for editing. I can do a little more with it than I can with Picassa. Honestly Elements does a lot of great things I have yet to figure out. I need to take a class on photoshop one of these days.

Why don't you post more pictures on your blog?

Okay I think this comment/question was a joke. I'm gonna hope it's a joke. I think I post quite a few pictures. Almost every day I post a picture. So the real question is for the readers do you think I post enough pictures?

Okay that's all I have time for tonight. If you have any questions for me leave them in the comments or email me. I'm happy to answer almost anything.
