Things That Make You Say....

Hmmmmmm!
There are some things that always make me say hmmmm. Things that I see and wonder to myself. Things that make me pause for a moment and ponder.... Don't ya ever have those moments. Those moments of deep reflection when it crosses your mind and you just really really wonder....
  • Don't people feel a breeze and know their butt crack is making a public debut?
  • And why do people press the elevator buttons three or four times. Don't they trust that the elevator will arrive eventually. Don't they know that excessive button pushing doesn't make the elevator rush?
  • Why is it a check in the US but a cheque in other places?
  • Why do people ask you how you are doing when you are at the doctor's office. Don't they know you don't go there on your best day?
So those are just a few of the things I'm pondering today. If you happen to know the answers let me know. Maybe then I can redirect my energy to more pressing issues....

Not Me Monday

It's time for another round of Not Me Monday! Who needs therapy when you can do the Not Me's for free!!!! Lord knows I have plenty to talk about this week. So here we go.....

I did not wake up once in the middle of the night and hear crying and not know who it was coming from. I would never confuse the cry of my own child and the cry of my niece. Of course I can tell cries apart in the middle of the night!

I did not load dirty bottles and dishes into the dish washer with clean dishes and rerun it. I didn't feel too tired to unload it. I didn't just skip that part and cram more stuff in so at least there would be clean bottles the next morning.

And I did not say out loud several times this week "The Hulk no biting the dog". Nope! My baby does not bite. And he most certainly would never bite a dog!

I do not have a mark on my arm that somehow matches exactly with baby The Hulk' teeth. No I don't have teeth prints on my flesh. That sweet child would not bite me!

I did not eat McDonald's chicken McNuggets at 1:30 last night. And they weren't ice cold. Why would I get McDonald's so late at night and then forget it in the car.

I did not let my baby take a nap in a bathtub. Nope baths are for getting clean not for sleeping. And since I didn't do that he doesn't look well rested and adorable now does he...

So what did you not do this week? I can't wait to hear! And don't forget to run by MckMama's to find more Not Me participants.

The Girls

Well the girls are hanging in there. Miss Mattie has been throwing up everything she eats again today. So no change with her. They will start tests tomorrow morning to try and figure out what the problem is. Possibilities include an obstruction or Celiac's disease. These are just some of the possibilities. There is no way to know yet what the issue is. Hopefully the tests will shed some light on the problem and they can come up with a solution quick.

Miss Kerrington made the transfer to the other hospital just fine. My worries about her going alone were unnecessary. She did great. She continues to have difficulty breathing and is having to be suctioned to help. But they have determined that it is a respitory virus. The doctors believe that it will run it's course but that she is probably looking at a several day hospital stay.

Shawn and Amanda are exhausted and worried. Obviously they have a lot on their plates right now. Two sick babies is a lot to worry about. While the girls are just a few rooms apart Mattie can't go into Kerrington's room so they are dividing and conquering. I think it would be a little easier if they were all in the same room but no such luck right now. I wish they were closer so I could go up and help but right now it's not feasible for me to go to KC. I can't really afford the gas to drive up there so I'll just wait and pray from here. Amanda's mom is there to help also so that is a huge relief!

Thank you so much for all your prayers. We appreciate it so much. I know that God and Grandma Dee are watching over our little girlies and that they will both be fine. I just hope maybe my mom can rush the doctors along in that process. She was never terribly patient so maybe she can use her angel type powers and light a fire under someone for us.

What A Difference A Year Makes!

It's amazing what can happen in just one year. In just this year I got a baby. I didn't even know he was coming and then here he was on Easter day. Amazing how that works. And since he is here I take him places with me. Like I took him to Texas to visit his Pop and Granny. Last year it was just Heather and I that made the trip. It was so weird and wonderful to have this extra little person with us! Amazing really! I thought it might be fun to compare the two trips...

Last year Heather rode the bull....

This year The Hulk rode the bull....

Last year Heather and I left our footprints on the beach....

This year The Hulk left his mark on the beach....

It sure is nice having him around!

Freaking Me Out

Oh goodness little babies freak me out. We had a really fun day today and Kerrington and The Hulk were both great little travelers. We went to celebrate Christmas with my mom's side of the family and had a good time. Most of the day Kerrington had a stuffy nose but seemed okay to me.

Then when we got home and I went to give her a bath I noticed that her breathing was really labored and when she sucked in air her whole chest would suck in and almost collapse. Freaked me out. So I called Darby who is working at the ER and she said to bring her in.

We were at the ER about 2 minutes when the doctor said that he wanted her transferred to the Children's Hospital in KC. Yes the exact same children's hospital that her older sister Mattie is at. They started her on oxygen and gave her a breathing treatment and we hung out waiting for the transport team to show up.

After several hours the transport team showed up and loaded her up and she is now on her way to the other hospital. I hate it that she is making the trip alone. But there is no way I could go with her. I couldn't take The Hulk on the ambulance and there is no one here to keep him. I know she will be fine with the ambulance ladies. They were all very nice. But it just worries me. I hate for her to be with strangers. Poor little baby.

They have a room ready for Kerrington at the hospital. It is two rooms down from Mattie so at least they will be together. I just can't believe they are both this sick at the same time. So so sad and so very scary. Seriously those little girls freak me out! I feel so bad for Shawn and Amanda. How stressful. I know how scared I feel and they are just my nieces. I can't imagine how they must feel.... Scary stuff. So please if you have a moment say a little prayer for our girls.

Whatcha Reading?

Right now I'm reading the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. Yes I know it's a young adult series and yes I'm aware that I'm no longer 16. But seriously these are some good books!

I've never liked vampire stories and I can't stand romance novels. So I'm not sure how it can be that I love these books. But I do! I just can't stop reading them. It's pretty much a guarantee that if I'm not taking care of the baby I'm reading. I'm plowing through them and pretty much the rest of the world is non existent while I do it.

Have you read them? What do you think of them???

Sick Mattie

My little niece Mattie is one sick little thing. She had to be admitted to the children's hospital tonight. She has been having a lot of stomach problems lately and just keeps throwing up or not eating and they want to run some tests on her. The poor little thing just keeps losing weight. Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is wrong with her this time and help her get better!

While I hate it that Miss Mattie is sick there is an upside. I get to keep her new baby sister Kerrington with me while her parents are at the hospital. So this little bundle of baby is hanging out at my place.

She is pretty sweet when she isn't screaming at me. What can I say I'm not the fastest diaper changer! I can change The Hulk' diaper in about 20 seconds but those little tiny newborn diapers slow me down. I'm afraid I'll break her leg off so I go too slow and she gets very angry. And trust me you don't want to anger her!
