Help A Girl Out

As a single mom I'm pretty good at doing things on my own. I rarely have to ask for help. I can pay the bills, cook the meals, rock the baby, and still find time to blog and take some pictures. I'm really fortunate that I have an "easy" baby and I'm a good multi tasker. But there are those times I and every other mom out there could use some help. And I've noticed a trend that shows that people aren't so great at helping. So let's review the proper etiquette for helping folks with small children.

Hold the door! Seriously! I'm not joking. On a given day I could be lugging a 30 pound baby, my purse, his diaper bag, my camera bag, and a toy, sippy cup, etc. While hauling all of this he is probably pulling my hair or necklace or trying to lunge out of my arms to catch the butterfly that just flew by. Would it kill ya to hold a door open for me?

If You Can't Say Something Nice, Shut the Hell Up! If we are behind you in the line at the grocery store and an adorable baby happens to be having a melt down please don't make comments like, "oh is someone upset" or "why is he crying", or my favorite "your baby is crying". Really? I didn't hear the wailing or notice that he has turned into a pile of screaming writhing jello in the cart. Thanks for pointing this out captain obvious!

So that's what I know... Hold the door and hold your tongue. And smile! Smiling wouldn't kill ya. I promise, my baby doesn't want to inconvenience you or disrupt your day. In fact he is probably just as annoyed with you as you are with him. So just chill and we will get out of your way as quickly as possible!

I'm Too Cute For My Shirt

I'm too cute for my shirt.... too cute for my shirt.... so cute that it hurts....

The Hulk does seem to think he is too cute for his shirt. His newest trick is undressing himself. And he actually can't do it all on his own but he has the dog help him. Yes I'm serious! I've watched from the doorway as to figure out how they do this. The Hulk will get his arms out of the sleeves and then he lays down on the floor and Lena yanks and tugs on the shirt to pull it over his head. The Hulk laughs and goes about his naked way. Crazy dog! Crazy kid! They are quite a pair.

In these pictures you can see his baby belly hanging over his pants. I took them about two weeks ago and in just that time frame he looks different. He still has a belly but it's smaller. He is really starting to thin out. Every day he looks more like a little boy rather than a baby! Oh time is flying by.

A Confession

I have a confession to make. While it is a bit embarassing it is time to tell the truth. I cannot ride a bike! I don't mean that I don't like riding bike. I don't mean that I won't ride a bike. I mean I can't ride a bike! I seriously had training wheels on my bike until I was 12 years old. And since my Dad took the training wheels off I have maybe rode a bike 3 times and fell off every time. I obviously have a problem with balance!

This is actually really bugging me. While The Hulk and I love going on walks I would really like to take him on bike rides. I wanna put him in a bike cart and ride around. But that just isn't going to happen. Or is it?

Today I saw someone riding this cool adult tricycle! It was awesome! It was some guy on the college campus. He was riding all around on it. So cool! So I came home and tracked it down online. Here it is.

And here is the link to the website that sells them. I so want one! And I got to thinking that since I can't ride a bike my Dad saved lots of money over the years on bikes for me. Some kids go through lots of bikes. So since he saved all that money maybe he could buy the trike for me! Don't you think that is a great idea! So Cricket I know you read this! Please have Dad order me the trike in blue! The Hulk and I will be waiting. :-)

What Did I Do Today

Well I'm so glad you asked! Oh you didn't ask... Hmmmm! I guess I'll share what I did today anyways!

Today I met Denise Brown. She is Nicole Brown Simpson's sister. Nicole Brown Simpson was married too and I believe murdered by OJ Simpson. The organization I work for arranged to have Denise come to town to talk about domestic violence. So she came to tour our office and meet us. Below is a picture of the ladies from my office with Denise. You can see my lovely sunburn from this weekend. I'm sure she thought I was a real freak! Raspy weird voice and a sunburn. NICE!

It was such a pleasure to meet her! She was very down to earth and friendly. It always amazes me to see how people respond to tragedy. I can't imagine if someone killed my sister! But she has turned her grief and anger into something positive and is helping lots of people. That always inspires me.

So that was my day! Now don't you wish you would have asked.

Seasons Change

It seems that with each change of the seasons I have a couple weeks of really missing my mom. I think it is because as the new season starts I think about all the things my mom enjoyed in that season and all the things she and we would be doing if she were here...

Like now for example. She would be so busy outside. Mowing season would be starting and she would be cussing about the broken down mowers but loving the time alone while she mowed. She would be planting lots of flowers, zinnia's in the front yard and lots of petunias, marigolds, and vincas all around the house. She would be excited about trips to the zoo, time at the park, and going on walks in the evening... She would be wearing an old pair of jeans and this little purple tee she liked to wear when she worked outside. And even after a long Saturday working in the yard she would still be one of the most beautiful women I know...

And sometimes when I'm really missing her I let myself imagine her with The Hulk. I picture her sitting in the yard with him blowing bubbles, or laughing at him as he eats leaves. I see her swinging in the hammock with him curled up sleeping on her chest. I imagine her rubbing his head and stroking his hair in the way only she could do. How I wish he knew that feeling! I see her tickling him and them both laughing so hard. When she laughs really hard she throws her head back and puts one hand on her chest. Oddly enough The Hulk does the same thing....

So as the seasons change my heart doesn't. It still is a little broken and empty.

I ache for her....

Every Day Conversation

Every day I take The Hulk outside to play. And every day we have conversation that goes something like this....

Me: Here you go The Hulk. Here are some nice toys to play with while I work in the flower bed.

The Hulk Thinks: I like toys....

The Hulk Thinks: But I like this yucky piece of yard debris better!

Me: No The Hulk here are your toys.

The Hulk Thinks: I'm a sneaky devil and have this leaf in my pocket... She isn't watching so I'm gonna check it out...

Me: The Hulk No leaves!

The Hulk Thinks: In the mouth very quickly! She is coming, she will take it! IN THE MOUTH!!!

Me: No No The Hulk. Yucky Leaves. Don't eat leaves! I dig some of the leaf out of his mouth before he bites me.

The Hulk Thinks: She didn't get it all but this doesn't taste so good....

Me: The Hulk we can't eat leaves they make you throw up! NO MORE LEAVES!!!

The Hulk thinks: I'm about to throw up.... But I just can't stop eating them.

And this is what happens every time leaves are anywhere close to us! He eats them, I dig them out, he bites me, eats more, and then throws up. And then we go inside. Outdoor play is turning him into a bulimic! Wouldn't you think that he would figure out that leaves make his stomach hurt? He isn't stupid! But no he sees a leaf he eats it! Crazy kid!

*Disclaimer: Yes I know that he looks like an ashy little guy in these pictures like he has never had lotion in his life. But that's what happens when you crawl around on gravel and concrete trying to find leaves!

Sweet Sibling Pictures

These cute kids have to be a couple of the kindest children I have ever photographed. They were so sweet to one another. You would never guess they were siblings from the way they treated one another. When I took the picture of them laying on the ground that kind boy moved little sticks so they wouldn't hurt his sister! And he offered to take the sunniest side because the light was in her eyes. What brother does that???? Obviously a great one! Not only are they photogenic but they are funny, sweet, kind and just fun! What a joy to capture!!!

Sing and Sign Fun

Wow tonight was really fun with Mr. The Hulk. Our first sing and sign class went great. Well as great as it could considering I can't talk. I could talk yesterday but I think I talked to much because now I'm back to very little. But The Hulk really enjoyed the class. He had fun with the other kids and he loved the music. He even did a few signs. WAHOOO!!!! It also wore him out! He fell asleep on the way home.

Please Don't Leave Me

Okay I have always been a fan of Pink.... But this song and video really creeps me out. I'm not impressed with the message it sends at all. Not only does it make women look really pathetic but the violence sends me through the roof. If a man sang a song like this the public would be outraged but no one says anything about Pink singing it. What a horrible message to be putting out there.

Just in case you missed some of the words let me share a few of the creepiest lines with you....

I can be so mean when I wanna be
I am capable of really anything
I can cut you into pieces
But my heart is broken

Nice... I can cut you into pieces... That's a message I want a teenager hearing...

Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest

Let's make a game out of violent relationships. That is super!

I cannot be without, you're my perfect little punching bag

Okay if Chris Brown sang that line all hell would break lose! This song gets a ton of airtime! My 12 year old neighbor was blaring it on her radio just yesterday. She knows all the words! That is incredibly bothersome to me. Am I just over reacting or does this seem inappropriate to anyone else?

My Little Vampire

Maybe I read to many Twilight books in front of The Hulk. Maybe I fed him to much table food to early. Maybe I brushed his little teeth to early. I don't know what caused it but I officially have that kid. You know the one that everyone dreads. Yes indeed I have the biter!

So now the question is what to do about it! Every time The Hulk bites I say no bite and remove him from whoever he has bitten. He hates it when I use my disappointed voice so I think that fairly effective. He will stop biting for a while and the we have bitefest 2009! Today he bit Miss Liz at daycare twice!!! One of the bites left a horrible red and purple bruise! Not okay with me or with her obviously. I'm afraid he is gonna get kicked out. So please someone tell me what to do?

I don't think it is about frustration or anger. He bites at random times. Liz was carrying him outside once when he bit her and was just playing with him on the floor the other time. He bit me tonight while I was reading to him. Sometimes I think he does it when he gets really excited. So I don't know what to do. I really never thought I'd have the biting kid!

Orange For Stellan

Today we wore orange to show our support for Stellan. He had surgery today and did very well. You can visit his mom's blog for all the details. We are just so glad he is doing okay! What an amazing little boy.

Spring Has Sprung

Well I think that Spring is officially here. The Hulk and I have been spending a little time outside each day enjoying the weather. Well at least enjoying the nice breaks between all the rain storms. He loves being outside! So we spend a lot of time going on walks and swinging. The Hulk has also discovered the joy of bubbles! So we sit out in the drive way a lot and I blow bubbles and he laughs like a fool. Sill kid! I forgot how much fun being a kid is! So simple!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. I'm guessing MckMama will not be posting this week since she is in Boston taking care of her Sweet Stellan. Stellan is scheduled for heart surgery on Tuesday so please keep the whole MckFamily in your prayers!

As for me I did NOT lose my voice and spend half the weekend communicating with my child through a mix of sign language, clapping, gestures, and pointing. I did NOT confuse my child at all by clapping loudly to get him to quit banging on the picture window. He of course did NOT begin to clap thinking we were playing a game.

I did NOT find my baby climbing up the kitchen drawers to get to the counter top. He does NOT use the drawer handles like a ladder and climb like a monkey.

I did NOT enjoy my time away this week. I did NOT sleep soundly and I did NOT enjoy long hot baths, reading in quiet and no toys covering the floor. I also did NOT feel guilty for enjoying my alone time. And I did NOT exceed the speed limit to get home to my sweet boy.

So those are some of the things that I didn't do. What about you?

Weekend Wrap Up

Wow another weekend has flown by! Can we start a little petition to make 3 day weekends mandatory? I'm just not ready to go back to the grind yet! I love being home with The Hulk. I love it when my house is picked up. I love spending time outside and with friends. And the weekend seems to be the only time I'm able to do those things for more than a few fleeting moments.... That's life though right!

So this weekend was awesome! Yesterday was the best day with Mr. The Hulk. I had to do a presentation about child safety at the teddy bear clinic yesterday. The teddy bear clinic is a big child health and safety event at our mall every year. So I took The Hulk with me and he sat happily in his stroller while I did my presentation and then we went and did the fun stuff.

He and is teddy bear got weighed and measured, their temp taken, and Teddy got an xray. Teddy also got a breathing treatment and The Hulk thought that was pretty funny! As we wondered through the booths I found the kindermusik lady! I'm so psyched that we are starting that class!

After that we hit the zoo, spent time swinging, went on a walk, and just had lots of fun. The weather was beautiful yesterday thank goodness since it rained and rained last night. Our whole yard is a swamp tonight. YUCK!

This morning I woke up with no voice at all. I can't even whisper! It's very odd. I feel fine but no voice! The Hulk has been pretty weirded out by this. He is a bit frustrated that I just turn book pages instead of reading. He doesn't understand it and honestly neither do I. I've never had this happen before. In the past when I've lost my voice I could till whisper or croak or something. But nothing....

So that's our weekend wrap up.

What did you do this weekend?

Steals and Deals

I just signed The Hulk and I up for a KinderMusik class. So we start taking our sing and sign class on Thursday night! I'm so excited! There are so few activities to do around here with little ones. I've been searching since The Hulk was born for some kind of activity for us. And we have been working on signing for awhile now too. So this class is perfect for us.

Since we signed up I was checking out the kindermusik website and found some great bargains! They have all kinds of cd's, dvd's, and books on sale. All the cd's come with board books and have lots of interactive songs. Some of them were only $1.95 a piece. I ended up spending $15.95 and got $89.95 worth of stuff! That is more than $50.00 in savings. So if you are ever looking for gifts for kids or activities for your kids that is a site to visit for some real deals!

What Is The Difference

I had an interesting conversation with another single mom today. She shared with me how difficult it is for her on occasion to handle the judgement she feels as a single mom. I was blown away by this because I have not had any negative experiences or felt judged while single parenting. But there is a big difference. I'm a single mom through adoption and she is a single mother through birth. The difference is the "sex" issue!

This is so frustrating to me. It saddens me that this friend of mine often feels uncomfortable at church because of the judgement! Of all places she should feel comforted and supported in the church. It is not our place to judge. God does that. Children are never the sin, the mistake, the punishment. Children are a blessing.

I'm fortunate in that prior to adopting The Hulk as a single mom I had months of classes, a home study, financial analysis, etc. I had a plan. And it is still difficult at times! I have so much respect for single women that birth their babies. Often they believe that they will have a partner to assist them, and often the pregnancy is a big surprise. I can't imagine how tough that would be!

I just don't think that any parent should be judged. We are all different. But ultimately parents want the same thing for their children, health and happiness! I'm thinking that instead of judging folks ought to offer to help a single mom out. Sit next to her in church and offer to help with the little ones, offer to babysit so she could go on a walk alone or out to dinner, open the door for her, and most importantly when you see a mom doing a good job, tell her so.

Welcome Home

I had a wonderful time on my work trip but I was really missing The Hulk by the end of the day today! I drove home pretty fast. And when I opened the door at daycare and he saw me he got this huge grin on his face and started laughing so loud. He laughed so hard he tipped over! And then I got the longest sweetest hug of my life! Boy I love that kid! Here is a pic I snapped tonight while we were playing! We had a great time together tonight. I can't wait for the weekend!

Hotdogs and Happiness

I've talked with Darby twice since leaving The Hulk with her and Chris. I honestly haven't been worried about him one bit. I do have moments of missing him but I think this is a really great experience for us both. I needed to do this conference professionally but I also really needed some me time to refresh! And The Hulk needs some fun from time to time away from boring old mom!

And I hear that that hotdogs and happiness abound! In fact rumor has it that The Hulk ate a hotdog and half of the Wilson house for dinner last night. And then after that he stayed up till 8:15 playing with Caden! I've also heard that he follows Caden around everywhere and is having a wonderful laugh filled time.

Sounds good to me!

Not So Free Wi-Fi

Did you know that if you stay at the Motel 6 they leave the light on for you and you get free wi-fi! AMAZING! You can also park in their parking lot for free and watch television for free. Again AMAZING! Did you know that at the Hyatt Regency none of those things are true? That's right folks. If you stay at the Hyatt Regency you will be paying for parking at $8.00 a day, and if you want to use the internet it's a real steal at $9.99 a day. Television is $4.99 and the bottled water in the room is $3.00 a bottle. But if you walk down the hall to the vending machine you can get the exact same bottled water for $1.50. CRAZY!!!!

So since this mama is broke I am not using the wi-fi at the hotel. I came over to my sisters house to check email and do some other stuff until she gets off work. Then we are heading out to dinner for some girl time and yummy hot food! While the hotel isn't all I thought it would be I'm having a good time. The conference is really really great! I'm learning a lot and have met a lot of people. I'll do a whole other post about that later. But I'm gonna sign off for now and head out for some fun!

All Packed

This mama is going on a business trip! I leave very early tomorrow morning to head to the big city for a Crime Victims Rights Conference So for three whole days I will be away from my sweet boy. But I have no worries! I'm leaving him in the very capable hands of his Godparents, Chris and Darby! Not to mention that wonderful Caden is very excited about having The Hulk stay the night at his house! I'm sure The Hulk will have a blast. I even heard a rumor that trans fats and ice cream may be involved! Wahoo!!!

What I am worried about though is how I'm going to spend my evenings alone at the very nice hotel! There is a massage scheduled, possibly dinner with my sister one night, a huge comfy bed, jacuzzi tube, and a pool! Not to menton the pile of magazines I packed that I never have time to read at home. I am a little to worried that all that relaxation will make me not want to come home. Who knows.... But I'm all packed and ready to go!

Yummy Stuff

I tried a new recipe last night and I really liked it. So I just have to share it with you....

1/2 pound ground turkey
1 medium onion chopped
2 Tablespoons minced garlic
3 Tablespoons Worcester Sauce
1 can cream style corn
1 cup green beans
1 can cream of mushroom soup (I used fat free)
1 soup can water
2 cups whole wheat egg noodles

Brown the turkey and onion in a skillet, drain off the fat. Return to skillet and add the garlic, and Worcester sauce. Cook on med. heat for another 3-5 minutes. Place meat mixture in a 2 quart casserole and place the uncooked egg noodles on top of the meat. In a sauce pan combine the soup, water, cream style corn and green beans. Heat until it comes to a boil. Then pour the soup mixture over the noodles and meat. Stir it slowly so the soup goes down between the noodles. Place the casserole in the oven and cook for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Very yummy and not bad for ya. The whole wheat pasta is good and you can sneak some veggies in there. The Hulk and I both gave this recipe a thumbs up! Very simple, yummy and healthy! WAHOOOOO!!!!

Good Friday

Well it's Good Friday! Actually for me it's GREAT Friday. I have quite an attachment to Good Friday and Easter for several reasons. First I think it is absolutely amazing that God allowed his son to die and rise again for me for us. I can't imagine that sacrifice and it is overwhelming to me to think that I have that promise of eternal life because of that gift. It really touches me.

But I've always loved Easter. I have loved the hymns and the sunrise services. I love how the church looks filled with lilies. I loved getting up early as a kid with my parents and getting my Easter basket and then heading to the park in the cold before the sun came up to rejoice in the promise of new life. And I loved sitting with my mom in church.

And then she died and Easter became even more important to me. While I miss celebrating it with her it has become another type of celebration for me. It is that promise that I will be with her again. It is that promise that Jesus died for her sins and mine and because of that we will be reunited one day. So now we always go see her on Easter and take her some eggs and some prayers and some conversation and we celebrate the possibility of our future together again. Here are Heather and I with her last year.

And then The Hulk came and Good Friday became Great Friday and Easter became the beginning of my life as a mom. Last year on Good Friday I signed up for the 10:00 slot for the day long prayer vigil at church. And as I was on my knees in church from 10-10:30 I prayed. I prayed for a baby. I prayed for hope, I prayed for peace. I was so depressed. I missed my mom and I was desperate for a baby. And as I prayed I had no idea that my son was already 1 hour old. But God knew. I'm sure he was smiling and laughing a little bit. He knew the gift was coming.

And Easter came and the call came and on that sacred day that baby boy became mine. And I had not only the promise of a new life with my mother but the promise of a new life as his mother. How amazing is that. What gifts the good Lord has given me.....

Happy Good Friday... Happy Great Friday!

What Brings You Here?

Okay folks I think we have a few freaky friends visiting this here blog. I've found some naughty keyword searches that have led people to my blog. So if your one of them I just have to know... Did you find what you were looking for? Here are some of the things people have searched for in the past 30 days that have sent them here....

Naked Heather

Baby Balls

Big Boobs

Poop Rocks

Naked Model

Breasts

It cracks me up that people can search for those things and wind up here. I'm guessing they were disappointed. But who knows. Maybe when they searched for baby balls they really did want my recipe for Turkey Balls. And when they searched for poop rocks maybe they did want to read my post about how fiber is so beneficial for babies. Who knows? Strange yet a bit entertaining.

Stopping My Heart

I got a little bit of heart stopping news from my sister Heather the other day. It seems she is packing up her things and moving. To a new apartment I assumed in the same town that happens to be just 1 hour and 38 minutes from my town. I'm excited about this. New places can be fun. We can decorate. Super!

But no that is not Heather's plan. This is the heart stopping part. She said a new apartment in SAN FRANCISCO! And no I double checked there is not a San Francisco in Kansas. It's that stupid stupid San Francisco in California. That state that could fall into the ocean. The state that has a terminator for a Governor. That stupid city that happens to be exactly 26 hours and 21 minutes from my house. That is not close at all if you aren't good with measuring travel!

So you know what I said about that. I said good plan. I said if you want to try it you should do it while your young. I said you can always go and if you don't like it you can come home. I even said I thought it would be a great opportunity. So I said all the right things. All the supportive things. I said the good sister things.

And then when I got off the phone I laid on my bed and sobbed. I had a moment of panic. I figured out how many days we had gone without seeing each other ever and it's never been longer than 23 days. And much crying occurred in those 23 days. So after I quit crying I pulled myself together and remembered all the supportive kind good sisterly advice I had given and remembered that is the right thing to do. She does need to try this. She will be fine. And somehow so will I.

But I'm still trying to teach The Hulk how to say No Go Auntie Heather... Do you think it will work????

P.S. Heather I know you read this and seriously we will be fine. You will be fine, The Hulk and I will be fine, and we are gonna rack up some kick ass frequent flyer miles. Love you girlie!

Dang Blogger

I have about 15 posts scheduled in blogger to post at random times. However, blogger isn't posting them. I'm not quite sure what I did wrong. Honestly though I'm guessing blogger did something wrong because my scheduled posts have always posted before.. I'll have to play around with that tonight.

So interestingly enough shortly after I did the weekend wrap up post about how well The Hulk was doing and how he finally wasn't sick anymore he got sick! The poor kid has been attacked by the snot monster. I've never seen so much snot. So off to the doctor we went today and now it is a sinus infection!!?!

A sinus infection? In a baby? I'd never heard of such a thing. But I guess they can get them. Nice. I also found out that when your baby has breath so stinky it about kills you that is a good sign that it is a sinus infection. Boy I have learned so much today! I also learned that when a baby has a sinus infection you will no matter how hard you try get covered in snot. By the time we got done at the doctor and wal-mart waiting for the prescription it looked like I had been slimed! Dark blue t-shirt not a good choice for the day. YIKES!

So we are back to the land of sick. I feel like the past two months have been filled with yucky sickness! It just seems to be dragging on and on. I can't wait till we finally kick all this nasty stuff. I had no idea that kids got sick so much!

Seriously

I'm in the Serious Life Magazine blog directory again this month. Seriously! I'm not joking! I'm serious about the magazine. So take a moment to go check out this month's edition. I have a feeling it's even bigger and better than last month. You may learn a few things.... maybe about Christ, or parenting, or even just serious life. You can check out the new edition by clicking here! Seriously!

Weekend Wrap Up

What a wonderful weekend! The Hulk and I have had a fabulous time. I think he is finally getting better. He has been so happy and laughing lots again. The wheezing seems to be slowing down and he isn't as crabby. Maybe we are getting back on track. That would be so nice!

Saturday we went to Caden's 5th birthday party. How Darby's baby is 5 I do not know. It has flown by! And to think that at this time next year she will have two more babies is amazing! Twins! Caden is going to be a really great big brother. He is so good with The Hulk. He can always make him laugh and he pays such close attention to him. Very protective and sweet.

I took so many pictures at Caden's party. 257 to be exact! The weather was great yesterday so I got a lot of the kids playing outside. I love that natural light. Hopefully I will get them edited this week...

After the party yesterday The Hulk and I worked in the yard. Well I worked and he hung out in his swing! I trimmed all the bushes in my front yard. What's crazy is it was so nice yesterday and then today it's freezing. So we have just played inside today. Lots of hide and seek and rolling balls around here.

Heather's best friend Kelci came to town today to try on a wedding dress so she stopped by for about an hour to play with the The Hulk man. He of course put on a show for her. It was nice to have a little company. And it gave me a break from being the human jungle gym. That's always nice. My back is going to be killing me tomorrow....

So that's our weekend. The Hulk is taking a nap now and then we are going to play some more. Fun times here!

Well this has been a great week for Mr. The Hulk! He gave up the bottle this week and is doing great! I thought this would be a bad deal. I've heard horror stories of much crying and drama over the weaning from a bottle. So I was a bit frightened. But The Hulk gave it up like it was no big deal. Thank goodness!

On Monday I took away one bottle during the day and he handled that so well I just decided to take them all way at once. So Tuesday and Wednesday he did without them fine! So tonight we bag all the bottles up and put them away. He only drinks from the sippy cup now and he doesn't even take a bedtime sippy cup of milk. He drinks a cup of milk with his dinner and that's it. Instead of doing a bedtime bottle we just read a few stories and call it a night. I'm so lucky that he is such an easy going kid.

I had no idea I would be so excited about this but I'm thrilled. Getting rid of the formula and bottles is so freeing. It means less stuff to drag around with us! WONDERFUL! Now how much longer till we can get rid of diapers?????

Not For Me

Well I'm beginning to think that dating is NOT for me! I was so excited about this date tonight. My friend Dena set me up with her friend J and thought we would have a blast. So I was psyched. I seriously never leave my house other than work, family stuff, picture stuff, church stuff, and The Hulk related activities. So going out to dinner and have hot food that I don't have to cut up into The Hulk size bites, wearing something cute, doing my hair, having someone pay attention to me. WOW that sounded like a good time!

Well it probably would have been if he had showed up! Yes indeed I was stood up! That's a first and hopefully a last. One time experiencing that was plenty. Supposedly his Grandpa is dying and he just couldn't leave him. So he called and told Dena this 10 minutes before our date was supposed to start. So she and her husband showed up to have dinner with me. Which it was a fun time. We laughed a TON, mostly at my expense. But still the food was hot, nothing got spilled on me and Dena's husband held the door open for me.

J did tell Dena that he would like to reschedule with me. I turned down that offer. I'm sorry if his Grandpa really is dying but I had a dying mom and I've had dying grandparents. And those are tough times. Which is exactly why I didn't schedule dates with anyone during that time period. If your Grandpa is at the hospice dying, don't plan a date, and then if you do, don't skip it at the last minute. That shows me that you lack good judgement. So sorry buddy... I can eat alone any day. I'm not waiting on some fool.

So I'll go back to hiding under my rock. And I just wrote myself a little note to have a talk with The Hulk tomorrow about how important it is to not stand girls up.
